Meet our new curate, Catherine - in the photo above with her husband Steve
Hello – it’s good to be here as your new curate. Thank you for making me feel so welcome already. I thought I’d give you some of my background so that you get to know me a bit better. I’m a Hartlepudlian by birth but I’ve lived in Oxford for most of the last 30 years and in Kennington since 2002. I have three teenage children – Jonathan, Amy and Helen; my two daughters go to Matthew Arnold School. I’ve been married to Stephen, whom I met at university, for nearly 25 years.
I became a Christian in my teens, aware of God’s loving creative power, and grateful for the way he rescues us, and I started wondering about ordination in my twenties - so it’s been a long journey to the point where I was ordained deacon at Christ Church cathedral this year. On the way I’ve enjoyed bringing up my children, teaching French and German, working in a playgroup, being a Debt Coach for Christians Against Poverty and training for ordination locally at Ripon College, Cuddesdon.
I love reading and walking and my guilty pleasures include watching Netflix and eating cake. I’m looking forward to joining a hula hoop exercise class in September!
Now I’ve told you a bit about myself I hope to find out more about you. I’m looking forward to getting to know more of you over the next three or four years of my curacy here in Cumnor Parish and sharing life with you.
